Planning Your Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

Chips & DipCinco de Mayo is just two days away and it’s not too last minute to plan the perfect fiesta. So crank up some party music, grab a notepad and pen (preferably pink or red – just for fun), and let the planning begin! Perhaps one, some, or all of the following three tips will help you create the perfect shin-dig for this occasion:

1. Take a few moments to review tips for kicking up your party heels, brought to you by Logistically Leah.

2. Put your own spin on the “look and feel” for this party. Get out your elegant china and flatware to take things up a notch or go the opposite direction and purchase brightly colored recyclable paper plates and cups for your revelers. (Emphasis on recyclable).

After your guests ring the doorbell, keep Drew’s Famous Fiesta Party Music on repeat, or (and this is a better idea, in my humble opinion) encourage your guests to bring their favorite Cinco de Mayo-appropriate tunes to keep things interesting.

3. Food with flair is the way to go. If you’re known for making out-of-this-world cinnamon rolls, those should be on the menu. Sure, they’re not standard fiesta fare, but your guests will certainly appreciate them for dessert. Make your own Mexican hot chocolate or encourage your guests’ creativity at the taco bar by providing fixings like sauteed mushrooms, summer squash, and zuchinni; a variety of shredded cheeses; and tasty dipping sauces in addition to guacamole and salsa.

As long as you have fun planning and hosting your Cinco de Mayo extravaganza, your guests should have fun, too. Enjoy!
