Gear Up for Marvelous May Adventures

TulipsAfter a l-o-n-g winter for folks in my neck of the woods, the concept of May flowers, spring temperatures, and fun holidays is especially invigorating. May arrived without too much fanfare yesterday, and yet there are so many marvelous adventures yet to be had in May that it seems appropriate to take note of a few of them. Wherever you reside perhaps one, some, or all of the following May adventures will resonate with you:

May 3 – National Teachers’ Day: Did you know that this week is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and that the first Tuesday in May is National Teachers’ Day? If you know a teacher who goes the extra mile (many tend to do that!), or if there’s a teacher who has made a difference in your or a family member’s life, share your appreciation with them. A card or gift is always a great idea, too!

May 5 – Cinco de Mayo: If you’re so inclined, you may wish to join in local celebrations of this national holiday in Mexico, which observes the victorious Battle of Puebla (May 5, 1862). Stop in to your favorite Mexican restaurant in town, or host a fiesta at your house.

May 8 – Mother’s Day: Honor your mom, or the mother-figures in your life with a card, telephone call, e-mail message or letter, gift, flowers, or any number of other things. Gifts from the heart are always ideal.

May 30 – Memorial Day: This national holiday commemorates the men and women who have died in military service to the United States. Take part in local observances, parades, and gather with community members, family, and friends in commemoration of those who serve to protect our freedoms.

Wishing you a month filled with marvelous adventures. Enjoy!
